When a man and woman unite in marriage, their personal union draws its power from the cosmic marriage that underlies the whole of existence — the bonding of the divine masculine and feminine energies emerging from the Creator’s Infinite Light to generate existence, a world, and life. Love has made a plea that you are to become united here in Maui, on this site – a perch in the Heavens. This is the sight for which you have been called upon. And now that you have come, Love has come with you.
At this time, I would like to have you present to each other these leis. In Hawaii we exchange leis as a symbol of our love. The beautifully crafted lei with its handpicked flowers and twine, carefully bonded together with love, reflects your love and Aloha for one another. As you exchange these leis you will begin to weave your lei in life together with love. And now, with loving aloha please present your leis to one another with a smile and a kiss upon each other’s cheek and recite…
“Aloha, Accept and wear this lei as a symbol of my love for you on this day.”
Words of Assembly
Earth, Wind, Fire, and Sea behold this divine festivity! We gather here today to celebrate and dedicate the joy and deep meaning of the union of “bride” and “groom” in this sacred commitment. Not taken lightly is their pledge to accept one another. As lover, companion, and friend. This ceremony can set the tone for your entire life together. It is the visible symbol in which the two of you grow in love and union. This union represents the fusion of two souls as one. As it is a demonstration of the bonding that will strengthen and free you to each grow in your unique way, but still together. And is intended never to be undone!
And now will you face each other and join your left hands…
Hand Wrapping Blessing
Together may the two of you withstand, Whatever life brings that is unplanned. And regardless to what others do or say, Together may you always stay.
Sacred Vows of Unity
Please repeat after me… I (Groom) (Bride) receive you, (Bride) (Groom) as my partner and love. Beside me and apart from me, In health and sickness, In laughter and tears, In conflict and serenity, In times of strength and times of fears, Asking that you be no other than yourself, Loving what I know of you and trust what I do not, In the way’s life may bring. I vow never to be discouraging,
Rather protecting, inspiring, and encouraging. I pledge to never deliberately act out of place, or bring upon disgrace, I promise too always be faithful and true, And to cherish as an absolute best friend, From this moment until our lives shall end. You have vowed your love to each other. Are you now ready to confirm that love in the responsibilities of marriage?
If so please answer…We are!
Your rings by their very shape are symbols of eternal unity without beginning or end. They are the emblem of the love that exists between you and characterize your devotion to one another. Let them always remind you of the commitments you make today.
Please repeat after me and place the ring on the fourth finger of the left hand…
(Groom), (Bride) with this ring, I promise to grow with you, to build our love, to speak openly and honestly, to listen to you, and to love and cherish you for all the days ahead. From this day forward, you shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. With this ring I thee wed.
And now by the power vested in me by the State of Hawaii it is my honor and privilege to pronounce you husband and wife. You may seal this agreement with a kiss…
“Go forth joyfully to love and serve one another and humanity!”
